Check-ups and Santa and all that stuff

I've been slacking on posting lately, mostly because I don't have a lot of time and when I do, I sit down to write and my brain gets so foggy I can't form complete thoughts. ;-)

Levi is HUGE. At his two-month check-up, he weighed 14 lbs. 4 oz. That's almost 2 pounds more than Caleb weighed at the same age. He's in the 95th percentile. He's also 23 3/4" long. He's outgrown pretty much every 0-3 month outfit and wears 3-6 month clothes comfortably. If he keeps this up, Caleb's clothes aren't going to fit at the right seasons! I like to call him my "chunky monkey." :-)

Levi is such a good baby and he's sweet as can be. He's starting to giggle now, which is precious. And, big news...he's finally sleeping longer at night and going longer in between feeds. Thank goodness! He'll now go 4 hours once or twice a night and usually 3 hours during the day between feedings. It's helped my sanity a lot!

Caleb is doing great. I'm amazed at how smart he is. Last night he actually carried on a conversation with his Daddy on the phone. He used to just tell you about everything he was looking at, but now he actually answers questions. He loves his little brother so much. He'll lay down beside Levi and say, "Hi baby brother" and give him kisses.

Last week Kimberly and I took the kids to have their pictures made with Santa. You can see that Ava wasn't having anything to do with Santa, but my boys' picture actually turned out well. It's the best you could expect from a two-year-old and a two-month-old:

And this picture I think is priceless. :-)

Ava is completely upset. Caleb's doing his own thing. And Levi looks freaked out. :-) Ahhh...memories.

By the way, I love, love, love having my sister live close. It's so fun to have someone to hang out with during the day and do things like this. Ava and Caleb love playing together, too.

We are gearing up for the drive to New Mexico for Christmas. We are really excited to be there and spend time with Justin's family. The drive we're not so excited about. If you have any great ways to keep a two-year-old occupied on a 16-hour car trip, please tell me about them in the comments!

Cute pictures! As for the car trip, I wouldn't even know how to get myself through a 16 hour drive, but I will offer up a prayer for your safety and that someone will give you some good ideas!

I don't know how you feel about letting your kids watch TV or DVD's but a DVD player for the car can be a life saver. I think Caleb may be too young for this hint but file it away for later if so, whenever we go on trips we break it up into 10 segments and have K count them off. So when we go to granny's it is about 300 miles so every 30 miles she can put a finger down. That gives her something to look forward to and it tells her how long we have left to ride in the car. We actually started that on the drive from VA to TX when K was 2 years old. Only other advice is lots of toys, snacks, stops for playtime and patience on the parental front!

Cute pictures!

Wonderful pics with Santa. There's a website with tons of kids scared of Santa pics http://www.sun-sentinel.com/entertainment/holiday/sfl-scaredofsanta-ugc,0,7181908.ugcphotogallery

I think I'll make that my blog post for today. :)

Sorry - no new advice for the drive. Books, dvds & snacks keep me happy in the car. :)

Those are awesome Santa pictures! And way to go Levi on all that great growing!!

As for the trip - DVD player! Seriously, on long trips, this saved my sanity when Lou was 2. Maybe one of those Fisher Price Doodle Pro pads? Lots of snacks, books, maybe a toy that has magnetic pieces, a lap pad and crayons and coloring book...GOOD LUCK!

Cute, cute pictures!

I am thankful you are taking the boys to NM--I beginning to see things from a grandparent point of view, I think ;-).

You have some great ideas for the car trip, too!

Those are such great pictures! I was amazed that Caleb and Levi were doing so well in the first one. :) I've got one where I'm scared and crying.

As for ideas, these may not work well until the kids are older:

Playing the license plate game was always fun. = I-Spy a color or an object. = Singing songs. (That can get old quickly.) = Toys and books are always good.

We'll be praying you all have a safe trip.

Love, Hol

Oh so precious! I cannot wait until Devyn and Hudson have cousins to do stuff like this together. Soon, I pray. Love those pictures.

Levi is SO big! =) Hudson is 10 months old and weighs about 16 pounds. (Hmmm, maybe I just have a really tiny guy?!)

Great Pics! I have one question...What are you feeding Levi!? Ben is only a week younger but doesn't look that big! I haven't weighed him, but I do know he is wearing all 3-6 mon. Isn't it amazing how fast they grow?
God Bless! And Merry Christmas!

Love the pics, but I can I just say Holy Smokes on Levi! Baby is almost 7 months and she was 14 pounds now....though she is in the 5% like her sister always has been!!
