Wisdom

I read Proverbs 18 yesterday morning and several things stood out to me. All are things that I have struggled with...

2 A fool finds no pleasure in understanding, but delights in airing his own opinions.

8 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts.

12 Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.

13 He who answers before listening--that is his folly and his shame.

These Proverbs spoke to me. I often struggle with pride and wanting to be heard.

My prayer is found in verse 10 of Proverbs 18...that I would call on the name of the Lord and He would be my shelter:

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."

Yes, I can relate to this TOTALLY!! Thank you for always sharing such timely godly wisdom. How interesting that we were both thinking about these things and that they even came out in our conversation this afternoon! God works in wonderful ways to edify and encourage us, and I am SO THANKFUL for the ways He uses you to strengthen me!!

I love you Jennifer, Lisa

Wow!! Good words, I am always struck by the words from the Proverbs. I'm going through it right now with the kids, and I am learning so much!!

Blessings!

I struggle with these same issues, too. I envy those with a gentle, humble spirit who do not (but I know that they struggle with other things). God is changing me from the inside, and it is to His glory when I feel and exhibit those changes.

I love all the verses chosen- especially the last one- which is what I find myself saying if ever in moments of fear or anxiety... and I always 100% of the time feel safe.

Thanks for the reminder. It's so easy to give our advice or opinion without consulting the Lord first. I often wonder what in the world makes me think I know what's best for anyone, much less myself!
