The day of my eighth wedding anniversary, a woman stood in my kitchen and told me she had recently found out her husband was having an affair. With a woman she has to see every day.
She was heartbroken, and my heart began to break for her as she recounted the details to me. She was angry and hurt and betrayed.
I prayed for her so much that day and in the days to come. I kept seeing the pain in her eyes.
A week later when we were standing in my kitchen again, she told me I was the only one she could talk to because her "countrywomen" (as she put it) would not understand since this was a shameful thing that had happened to her.
I keep thinking about how hard life is. It just is. And I keep wondering how people who don't have the love and forgiveness and peace and grace of Jesus Christ make it through this life at all.
I'm so glad I don't have to find out. And neither do you.
"But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." -Romans 3:21-24
"This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." -1 John 5:3-5
"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." - John 3:36

You're right, it's not worth finding out how hard it could be...thank you for the reminder :-)
So glad you can be there for her, Jenn. I pray that God will do a work of healing and reconciliation, and that she would lean on Him and trust His love for her.
