Sometimes

...things don't come out of hubby's mouth quite like he had planned. We laugh about this often (as we laugh about my silly quirks, too).

I wasn't exactly laughing last Thursday at what he said, at least not at first. Thursday, as you know, we celebrated our 4th anniversary. We were getting ready for bed that night talking about how we can't believe it's been 4 years and how much has changed since that day. Hubby says, "Well, 4 down, 34 to go."

Huh?

34?

What does he mean by that? I won't even be 65 years old by then.

He said he just picked a random number. I'd say so.

I said next time you decide to pick a random number to romanticize about the years we will spend together in this life, it should be over 50.

This is when the "I love all of you" part of our vows is appropriate. :-)

That is great. That got a chuckle from Andy and me. Thanks for sharing the story. Sometimes we just don't think about what we say before we say things.

How dare he?! Especially after you've just gushed over him so much lately! :-)

He definitely didn't mean it to sound like it came out. I'm sure we'll be laughing about this one for a long time to come (read: I'll be reminding him of this for a long time to come)!

I'd be doing the same. It's a woman's perrogative to bring things up 10, 15 years down the road...right ;-)

34...it's a good round number. I think it is a great goal to work for!!!

Ok, let’s analyze the situation: If hubby had said 50, wife would have still been appalled that a concrete or fixed number was used. By choosing 34, wife stays on her toes and continues to work diligently at pleasing hubby for years to come. Nice choice of words!!!

Happy Anniversary! And....your husbands attempt at humor...well, it won't be the last time he takes his foot out of his mouth while he laughs! HUMOR--a huge part of a successful marriage. GRACE....a bigger part!

Happy! Happy! Belated Anniversary!

Oh man, he's gonna be hearing about that one for a while. ;) Sounds like something I'd do. I'm constantly telling John, "Listen to what I mean, not what I say" ;)
