A baby brother for Caleb

That's right...it's a boy!

My official ultrasound isn't scheduled until May 22, in which I will make them verify that information, but when I went to the hospital last week they did an ultrasound. My sister was with me since Justin was on a plane and my parents had not arrived yet. The technician asked me if I knew the sex of the baby. I told her I didn't. She asked me if I wanted to know, and I said, "Yes and no. My husband is not here and he would kill me if I found out before he did." (Wasn't that sweet of me? I think I showed a lot of restraint, don't you?) So she printed out a picture, and my sister sealed it in an envelope so we could open it when Justin returned last Saturday. My sister knew the whole time and was sworn to secrecy. My dad tried hard to coax it out of her, but she held the info tight.

I really thought it was a girl (as did the rest of my family) because this pregnancy has been so different than my last one. But, it is obviously a boy. We're excited that Caleb will have a brother so close in age to him. He's already saying "baby budder," although he has no idea what it means. It's cute.

So now we're discussing names. It's not easy. We had a really hard time deciding on Caleb's name, and both times I've had several girl names that I really liked. And I'm really picky. I prefer one that can't be shortened, means something significant, is not trendy, isn't the name of someone either of us has bad memories of, and I'm partial to Biblical names. So, with those criteria, feel free to suggest a name. :-)

Not that I have any real reason to be thinking about this myself, but I still do from time to time! The Biblical names I like the best are Gabriel and Benjamin. :-)

I also like Gideon, which fits pretty well with Caleb actually... :-)

Don't think I will be much help with the names, the only thing I can think of is the one we picked out and it was totally to stay with the Irish last name, it was Sean Patrick. It is not Biblical but feel free to use it if you wish, pretty sure I won't be needing it!

Your sister is a good secret keeper, she would not even tell us at the shower. We tried to persuade her that we were too far away to spill the beans but she would not budge!

Congrats on the new son!

Let's see...My choice from Ben was Uriah. I could only think of Bathsheba and didn't want to curse the baby. There are so many good ones! Don't give up! Another other c that might be fitting is Canaan. These are BEn's cousins and they are both very fine christian men!!!! I have a book with just men names from the Bible and their meaning. Let me know if you want it sent your way!!!!

I was going to say Noah and Jonah also but somebody beat me to it. And actually Noah is getting trendy lately anyway.
I like Micah too.

Congrats!! That is so fun! I agree with the noah, jonah, canaan suggestions. My husband's little brother is named Solomon. Definitely not one that you hear too often!

CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so happy for you guys! Two boys! Wow, you're going to be one busy mama!! I'll be sending some prayers your way.

As far as names go, I just love Gabriel, but that can be shortened to Gabe. I also like Gideon, Joshua, and Jacob. Do you read Elise at A Path Made Straight? She named her eldest Corban, which is in the book of Mark. Corban and Caleb sound good together too. Have fun!!

these "budders" are going to be such great friends! I am thrilled for you guys and (I admit that I am a little partial to boys!) I just know you are going to love being a mommy to 2 boys!! Fun! And what a blessing to hear that you are feeling better. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy this last half of the pregnancy much more than the first!

Another boy! Oh the fun those two brothers will have and oh the love that they'll save just for you! Names... well I'm in I Chronicles right now and all I can think of are the really looooong names.

Eli, Seth, Jadon, Asa, Judah, Josiah... none of these names need to be shortened, their not trendy and they all are held well in God's eyes. Just a few to think about...

Congratulations! I've thought with #2 and #3 that we were having boys because they were both SO different from my first girl pregnancy. Good luck coming up with a name! :)
